I'm trying to start the divorce process. We got married in Houston but I reside in MN now.?

She's still living in Tx and currently has another child with someone else. We have been seperated for 4 years now and the feeling is mutual. We're not fighting over property or anything so I think it should be kinda easy but I need to be pointed in the right direction. Should I start by getting a lawyer in houston or minneapolis? Is this process gonna be costly?

SmithK 		Go to the court house where you are a legal resident and get the forms, pay the fee, and file. You will only need a lawyer if it is contested.

StewartJ 		If you are filing, you would do so in what ever county you have residence. If she is filing, she would file in the county she lives in.

ARobert 		In houston. one in another state, would not be licensed in TX. They could ONLY advise you, but wouldn't know TX laws. I had to deal with the same situation.
