Why are americans obsessed with big cars, big houses big yard, playing in the house etc?

In american cities, there is so much sprawl and everything is spread apart that wherever you go you need a car, its like this in cities like LA, Houston, Pheonix, and most all america.
The only nearly walkable cities in the US is manhatten part of new york and San francisco and maybe boston, But USA people seem to be obsessed with owning big House, cars and swimming pools or something.

Cities are supposed to be urban cores, but in America cities are just Giant endless suburban homes, and every store & cafe has parking lots like in houston. This must also contribute to the reason why americans are so Fat?
Everytime I make friend in the US they always want to invite me to their house, and drink, or something like theres not much else to do.

In Japan people never hang out at home we hang out and do errands in urban cores markets, cafes ,karaoke, and by walking and its always fun & convinient.
Howcome in USA people want to live in cities & still own big houses? that defeats the purpose of an urbancore where all action & life is, and everything is a one floor department with a big parking lot

Everywhere you go, there will be similarities and differences. I do not feel that Americans are all obsessed with the best of everything. We have a much larger country than Japan as well so we have more space for things. Japan is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, and from what i've heard space is extremely limited.

It's called cultural differences. There is no right and wrong theoretically. Practically and realistically there may be.

Americans like two basic things:
1. The ideal that they are the best in the world
2. Food

American cities help them achieve this dream. To be honest, living in a ghetto would be more real than what you are describing.

We have a few Metropolitan areas here in the US. But most Americans are materialistic. Do you watch what's in the media ... We like luxuary. We want the finer things in life ...

American media promotes superficiality and feeds it to American citizens.
American citizens nurture the superficial demands of society by buying big cars, big homes, the best make up, the best bodies, the best clothes, ETC.
It's a cycle.

Ok, so there's a cultural difference. Nothing wrong with that.
